A cactus is known for resilience. The most magical of these are the saguaros. If you’ve never seen one up close, they almost take your breath away when you come upon them. Their sentinel frames jut out from the desert landscape pointing towards the vastness of the universe above. The saguaro not only endures, but thrives in some of the harshest conditions. They are survivors, occasionally producing beautiful blooms when the timing is just right. They build up a tough exterior to protect the soft places inside from the unforgiving landscape. Birds sometimes punch through the thick skin, creating scarred holes in the saguaro in order to find safe refuge to raise their young. Out of their wounds, the saguaros offer some of the greatest gifts.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.
